Gift of Mount Everest for CM of Arunachal

Itanagar June 24 2009: Tapi Mra, first Arunachalee who scaled the mighty Mt. Everest, called on the state chief minister Dorjee Khandu in his office chamber this morning. He presented a stone brought from the Everest with a photograph snapped with the tri-color Indian flag after reaching the highest peak.

Khandu, congratulated Mra for his strong determination, untiring effort and sincerity in the mountaineering sport which led him to achieve the nearly impossible task. “You have undoubtedly brought laurels to the state by becoming the first ever Arunachalee to achieve this feat and make the state proud. It is indeed a great moment for all of us” he emphatically said.

Assuring all possible assistance from the state government's end, Khandu believed that the youths of the state inspired by Mra's achievement would definitely bring laurels to the state in the days to come. He urged Mra to guide the youths in mountaineering sports and explore trekking avenues in the state.

He was accompanied by State WRD Minister Tako Dabi, Taro Chatung and two others. (Jambey Tsering)
