These Subsidiary Airports Will Help In State Tourism: Governor Itanagar March 19: Your projects in Arunachal Pradesh should help in the development of the difficult and interior areas of this Frontier State, said Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen JJ Singh, when Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command Air Marshal K K Nohwar called on him at Raj Bhavan here yesterday. It should generate jobs for the local population and as always help in their economy. Your projects should be a ‘Force Multiflier.' Gen Singh went on to suggest the Indian Air Force to adopt some schools or primary health centres in the project sites. You have to instill the feeling amongst denizens that you are their armed forces, he added. Taking up on the latest of eight advance landing grounds (ALG), which were handed over to Defence, Governor called for completion of the works within a time frame. He pointed, these subsidiary airports, once completed, will not only help in transportation of essential commodities to those interior areas but also help in exploiting the huge tourism potentials of Arunachal Pradesh. When tourism picks up, whole world will descend here. Therefore, I will be keeping a close watch on all the projects, he added. Air Marshal Nohwar, who left for Ziro in the morning in his onward tour of the State, gave the latest and details of the projects. Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command who had visited Pasighat, Tuting, Mechuka, Kaying, Vijayanagar and Walong before landing at Itanagar also apprised of some problems in the implementation. (Atum Potom) CM says 8ALGs given to Air force has to give access to Civilians also Itanagar March 18: Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command Air Marshal K K Nohwar gave a courtesy call to the state chief minister Dorjee Khandu in his Niti Vihar Office this afternoon. This is Nohwar's first visit to the state after he took over the charge of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, IAF with effect from Jan 1 last. Khandu while referring to the 8 ALGs being handed over to Defence said that the IAF and Army has to ensure that the ALGs are open for civil usage also. On Khandu's plea the Air Marshal assured that the IAF would be always ready to help lifting of essential commodities for the civilians living in the front areas. The Air Marshal who had earlier landed the state capital after visiting Pasighat, Tuting, Mechuka, Kaying, Vijayanagar and Walong, acknowledged the Chief Minister about the encroachments by people in ALGs of Pasighat and Along and urged him to take necessary action. Khandu assured Nohwar of a sooner action on the matter. The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary Tabom Bam, Principal Secretary to CM Yeshi Tsering and Civil Aviation Commissioner Hage Khoda.
