Nerve Rocking IPL match for 1 st timeItanagar March 21: For the first time in my life I have seen a nerve rocking match in entire Cricket world. As Yuvraj Singh rightly said ‘it took my nerve' as he mumbled for words soon after he hit boundary for a win in the supper over match. After KXiP lost three matches in the IPL, I saw the tears in the eyes of the ladies for Preity Zinta, who was owner of the KXiP club. Since then I decided to follow the match, and I started believing that KXiP will take the IPL trophy. Joining the 2 nd innings immediately, I started making calculations and assumptions and started believing that some of the bating line up will not cross beyond 35 and that in 10 overs, their total should not to cross 45 runs. But Mathew Hayden, Partiv Patel and Suresh Raina took CSK away to above 60 runs. Then finally Ramesh Pawar took away Mathew Hayden, thereafter at a certain point wickets began to fall. But Suresh Raina kept on sticking. With sufficient balls and 7 wickets in hand, the victory for CSK was inevitable. All my friends left the game leaving me alone to watch the game. When all possibilities of winning on CSK side were on, I kept my nerve and consoled myself again and again that this match is going to be won by KXiP. At the first ball of the last over, Irfan Pathan gave away four runs clearing all the ways for the victory of CSK. But the next ball was dot, making the required run and the ball to equal at four. The 4 th ball took the opponent team to the last step of winning, by leveling the score. So now the CSK had to take only one run from two balls with 4 wickets intact. As all the supporters of CSK shouted for happiness, I kept my nerve and shouted at the top of my voice from my little room, ‘this match is Yours, KXiP'. The entire supporters of on the other hand kept praying, the viewers prayed along with them over the television screen. At that moment, Irfan Pathan gave a dot ball, leveling the contest to 1 ball 1 run situation. I still kept my nerve and said, someone has to be out, and it did. For in his last ball, Mohamad Kaif did the catching and brought the match to a tie. I thought that the match was won and woke my friends, but there was yet another situation called the Supper over ball. Three players from both teams were selected for bathing and KXiP Punjab did firs bowling. Tehron was called in and the CSK were restricted to nine runs at five balls all out. From KXiP it was 10 run from 6 balls with two wickets. Jayewardene hit 6 in the first ball but was caught in next. Irfan joined with Yuvraj facing to bat. The situation was now just the opposite; it was turn for KXiP to gather nerves. They just needed 4 runs from 4 balls. He was the last wicket. Anything could have happened with the world's number one bowler and spinner of Sri Lanka, Mr. getting just 1(one) run seemed beyond impossible. Yuvraj just missed the fourth ball, which was a dot. There was dead silence in the stadium. Neither of the team supporters made any noise. Many supporters of KXiP closed their eyes and played mental game. 4 runs needed from just 3 balls. I kept my heart controlled, and still kept on saying, Yuvraj, be serious, you are going to win this match and the trophy. Hit it for it is I and We who are hitting not you alone. As the greatest spinner ran with the ball, I saw in Yuv's eyes those rays of intensity and concentration. He turned his bat in advance as if someone already visualized the ball before it came, and bang, he gave a reverse swing. The ball flew and there was nothing on its path. As yuvraj celebrated, I knew that it was a boundary, and that a victory hit. I shouted again, congratulations Yuv'. You did it. Keep up'. I finally took a long breath and the wind pipe in my throat seemed to be too long as at last I found a good and sound sleep. |
